Never expect a day to be a normal day. There's always that one moment that becomes the one thing you think of all day. One can never predict everything that will occur during your day, for someone's bound to do something unexpected.
Take yesterday for instance. It was a Wednesday, so it's a day of immense slowness and I felt like that day should be over by the beginning of A Block. It was also a Green Day, so I had. The only good thing about yesterday morning was the fact that I had breakfast on a school day for once in my life. But in all of my expectations for today and of all my fears, I definitely did not expect what I would see during C block.
But before we get there, I would like to go through the timeline leading to it first. I'll start with physics…in which I fell asleep during the class and I did not wake until I fell onto the strange, dark green tiles that looked like there were a mixture of wood and marble.Ok, I know that's bad, but Tuesdays are a pain when I get home, mostly because Jazz Band kind of takes over my life on Tuesday nights. However, even through the pain it brings, I enjoy doing it.
Next is B Block with Creative Writing, which is a fun class. I enjoyed explaining what Mime Warfare was, talking about the dark green house that is Bampy's Campy, and even pretending to meet Walt Disney for the first time. I still don't know what to write for that Laws of Life thing, but I will get to that later.
Now we get to C Block. I had heard that Jack Tiernan had something new about him, but I assumed that he just got a haircut. So I walked into the band room, got my red chair and a stand, and began setting up for Band. A few seconds later, Jack came in. I checked to see what was 'new' about him, and I couldn't help but notice that he was wearing a pair of BRIGHT, NEON GREEN SHOES.
I can't help but stress how loud and bright these shoes were. I'd be deaf if they were a sound produced from ten yards away. If it was the darkest night in the history of the world, they would light up the world. Oh, and those shoes don't light up – they're just that bright. You could probably see them from the Moon! I'm not kidding! Also, his bright green shoes go great with his ginger hair. He's a symbol of Christmas in February.
I asked Jack where on earth he got those shoes, and he answered with an answer I didn't expect: he gets free shoes if he works at Bobs. Who knew they did that? Certainly not me.
I couldn't help but think about those shoes during all of C Block. I also couldn't help but notice that Mr. DeMoura couldn't help but crack a joke about them every now and then. My favorite was, 'Come on, Altos! I know you can be louder than Jack's shoes!' Oh, the face on Jack's shirt was priceless, and we all got a good laugh from it.
I couldn't stop talking about it during lunch with my friends. We all decided that we would make fun of him during Drama after school. And I couldn't help but think about it during my D Block, Art II. Oh, the fun I had with one of the green colored pencils…
Well, at least Jack was getting attention for once. Even though he's currently our drum major in marching band, he doesn't get to be a part of many conversations. But now, he can. And, when I think about, I don't mind the shoes. I would like a pair just like them. But my shoes wouldn't be green. They'd be bright, neon red.
Now, today is Friday, and I haven't heard anything new and exciting, so I don't think anything big will happen when I enter the band room today. Although, now that I'm in the room, I do see people standing around Jack. I wonder what –
"Jack," I blurted out, "why on earth did you dye your hair black?"
